Sabah’s Kunak Lipids Puts Tocotrienols on the Global Map – With Cookies, Bars & Even Tongue-Strips!

When the nutraceutical world descended on Bangkok for Vitafoods Asia this week, most eyes were on the big players.

But tucked inside the bustling Queen Sirikit Convention Centre, one booth was proudly flying the Sabah flag – Kunak Lipids Sdn Bhd.

This young Malaysian company, part of Sawit Kinabalu Sdn Bhd, made its international debut with a brand-new logo, a fresh vibe, and a line-up that got people talking: not just the usual supplements, but cookies, energy bars, and even melt-on-your-tongue strips – all powered by tocotrienols.

Now, if you’re wondering what on earth that is, tocotrienols are part of the vitamin E family. They’ve always been overshadowed by their more famous cousin, tocopherols, but Kunak Lipids is betting big that it’s finally their time to shine. Think of them as the underrated superhero of antioxidants, ready to take centre stage.

Leading the team was Datin Stella Ambrose, Deputy CEO of Sawit Kinabalu. “We didn’t just want to show up with another supplement,” she said. “We wanted to show how tocotrienols can fit into everyday life – from your morning snack to your gym session.”

And fit in, they did.

Traditionalists got their softgel supplements, while the lifestyle crowd reached for functional cookies and energy bars. But the real show-stopper? Those futuristic ODF strips that dissolve on your tongue, giving you a quick hit of health without the hassle.

The buzz paid off too. A leading Asian nutraceutical manufacturer signed a Letter of Intent to start buying Kunak Lipids’ tocotrienols from January 2026. On top of that, an international distributor with a green, sustainable focus is set to bring Sabah’s innovations to shelves worldwide.

What makes Kunak Lipids special isn’t just the cool formats, but its roots. By turning palm-based byproducts into high-value wellness ingredients, they’re proving that sustainability and innovation can actually taste good.

For Kunak Lipids, Vitafoods Asia wasn’t just another trade show. It was their coming-out party – a bold statement that Sabah has a place in the global wellness game. And judging by the crowd at their booth, this is just the beginning.
